About 20,000 students in Azerbaijan have again applied for in-school assessment

Taking into account the measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, the Board of the Ministry of Education on 21.05.2020 approved the "Temporary Rules for the certification (in-school assessment) of students in general education."

This was stated on social media by the head of the public relations department of the Ministry of Education Jasarat Valehov. He noted that according to the Rules, students' semi-annual scores and grades for the first half of the academic year were accepted as their annual scores and grades for the academic year. Students in grades V-VIII and X who do not agree with the annual grade in any subject have the opportunity to apply to the general education institution for the organization of re-assessment in school. According to preliminary data, about 20,000 students have applied for this right.

Valehov said that given the special quarantine regime in the country until August 31, 2020, the process of re-evaluating the knowledge of students who do not agree with the annual assessment or do not assess their knowledge between August 21-31, 2020 will be one of the following two forms. or both are recommended to be selected:

1. Online on the Microsoft Teams platform;

2. Outdoors in schools.

Outdoor assessment is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the "Guidelines for the prevention of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) during examinations" (attached).

In order to determine the form of assessment, the school administration should study the school's material base, technical support and access to the Internet resources of students and teachers, based on the results of the study, decide on the form of assessment and inform teachers, parents and students.

Valehov also said that the transfer of students from class to class based on the results of in-school assessment in grades II-VIII and X is regulated by the "Temporary rules for the transfer of students from class to class in general education institutions."
