The criminal case against the recently arrested former Prosecutor General Eldar Hasanov has been transferred from the State Security Service to the Prosecutor's Office.
The statement came from his lawyer Adil Ismayilov, Gadin.Net reports quoting Qafqazinfo.
He noted that the criminal case against Eldar Hasanov, initiated on the facts of abuse of office, embezzlement, bribery of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and investigated by the DTC Investigation Department under Article 308.2 (abuse of power) and 308-1.1 of the Criminal Code. (non-use of budget funds) and sent to the Prosecutor General's Office to continue the investigation:
"On behalf of Eldar Hasanov, I would like to thank the leadership of the State Security Committee and the Prosecutor General's Office for taking an objective and fair decision, taking into account the motions of the defense.
Eldar Hasanov considers his arrest a misunderstanding, hopes that the issue will be resolved within the country, in the legal field, and the granting of the petition has increased his hopes.
Hasanov, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, was remanded in custody for three months.
