27 years have passed since the occupation of the Jabrayil and Fizuli regions of Azerbaijan by the Armenian armed forces.
On August 23, 1993, the armed forces of the hostile country occupied Jabrayil.
As a result of the Armenian occupation of Jabrayil, with an area of ​​1,050 square kilometers and a population of about 60,000, the region suffered more than $ 14 million in damage.
There are 90 villages in the region and currently only one village - Jojug Marjanli - is under the control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. During the fighting in April 2016, the strategically important Lela Tepe Heights, which allowed to control a large area in the Fizuli region, came under the control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. With the capture of Lela Tepe, completely safe living conditions were provided in Jojug Marjanli village of Jabrayil region. Today, extensive construction work continues in Jojuq Marjanli.
72 secondary schools, 8 hospitals, 5 mosques, 2 museums, 129 historical monuments and 149 cultural centers were occupied by the Armenian armed forces in the Jabrayil region with an area of ​​1,050 square kilometers.
IDPs from Jabrayil are currently living in about 2,000 settlements in 58 regions of the country. Before the occupation by the Armenian armed forces, the region's agriculture consisted mainly of viticulture, animal husbandry, grain growing, vegetable growing, fruit growing and cocoon growing. The Baku-Nakhchivan railway (52 km) and the Shirvan-Zangilan highway (60 km) pass through the territory of Jabrayil.
The region is rich in historical, architectural and religious monuments. Jabrayil region killed more than 350 people in the war against the Armenian aggressors, 91 people were captured and missing, 177 people were disabled.
125,368 hectares of the western part of the Fizuli region (50 villages and district centers) with a total area of ​​139,393 hectares, occupied by Armenian military units on August 23, 1993, are still occupied by Armenian armed forces. There are 13 settlements and 20 villages in the liberated territory of Fizuli.
Twelve settlements belonging to the region have been liberated from occupation, new settlements have been built in the area and IDP families have been temporarily housed here. At present, 51,000 IDPs have settled in the area.
Thousands of residents of the region fought in the fight against the Armenian aggression, which began in the late 80s of the last century, hundreds of people were killed, wounded, taken hostage and missing. In total, Fizuli region lost more than 1,100 people in the war, and 1,450 residents were disabled.
