The Baku Court of Appeal has considered the appeal of former Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, former ambassador Eldar Hasanov.
The statement came from his lawyer Adil Ismayilov, Gadin.Net reports quoting Report.
According to him, Hasanov appealed against the decision of the Sabail District Court on the measure of restraint.
The Baku Court of Appeal rejected the appeal.
It should be noted that some officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan abused their powers and committed acts that seriously damaged the legally protected interests of the state. Farhad Molla-zadeh, head of the Consular Department Faig Bagirov and others were prosecuted for abuse of office, embezzlement and bribery, and were remanded in custody on the basis of court decisions.
During the ongoing criminal investigation, new information was obtained on the misappropriation of state budget funds allocated for the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and on the basis of the collected materials, an inspection was appointed on a comprehensive financial and economic activity.
During the financial audits, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina Hasanov Eldar Humbat oglu established reasonable suspicions that a large amount of budget funds was not used for its intended purpose and other violations were committed. Eldar Hasanov was detained as a suspect during the investigation.
Eldar Hasanov was charged under Articles 308.2 (abuse of power) and 308-1.1 (non-expenditure of budget funds) of the Criminal Code. According to the decision of the Sabail District Court, he was remanded in custody until November 3
