It is claimed that a meteor hit the Turkish cities of Istanbul, Izmir and Manisa after the Perseid meteor shower.
Although the news was not officially confirmed, the IHA news agency reported that fires broke out in some provinces in the Aegean region and in some parts of Manisa.
Witnesses said the sky lit up like lightning, followed by fires in reeds in various places.
"An object fell here, followed by an explosion. We couldn't find a meteor or a plane ... It is impossible for a fire to break out in these areas. The same light was seen in the surrounding neighborhoods such as Kemer, Poyrazdamlari, Karasavci, Yenikoy, "said one of the witnesses.
