"Distance education diplomas will be recognized in Azerbaijan."
Gadin.Net reports that this information was given to Sputnik Azerbaijan by Etibar Aliyev, a member of the Parliamentary Commission on Science and Education.
The MP said that this issue will be reflected in the new law "On Higher Education": "The law" On Higher Education "has not been adopted yet. He did not pass the first reading. But the adoption is expected soon. The period of the pandemic will significantly accelerate the adoption of this law. Because, during the pandemic, the issue of distance education came up. The old law does not address the issue of distance education. The new law will address the issue of recognizing the diploma of distance education. The introduction of distance education is especially important during a pandemic. We must use the opportunities of distance education without such a pandemic, "he told Sputnik Azerbaijan.
Sputnik Azerbaijan investigated how realistic the application of distance education in higher education institutions in our country is.
Ilgar Orujov, Executive Secretary of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Young Scientists, Postgraduates and Masters Society, said that the implementation of the world's distance education format in Azerbaijan is a requirement of the time. dir. During the pandemic, this higher education institution was able to get out of the situation precisely because it was ready for distance education. Azerbaijan already has experience in distance education. Although other higher education institutions have joined virtual education since the break in traditional education in March, this distance education has not been as effective. There is a higher education institution in Turkey with 100-150 thousand students. Not all of them receive traditional education, some receive distance education. Distance education is also the most profitable type of education for students. Many higher education institutions in Azerbaijan have lagged behind for years. However, if the university prepares staff for the labor market, it must introduce innovations. In this way, they can attract more students from abroad and increase their income.
But İ. Orujov says that during the pandemic, universities began to work in the field of distance education. He said that higher education institutions should include young teachers with ICT skills in the teaching staff. According to him, ADA University and Azerbaijan-French University (UFAZ) already provide distance learning: “Other higher education institutions also work on distance education. From the new academic year, many universities will start this work by building distance education infrastructure.
It should be noted that UNEC is the first higher education institution in Azerbaijan to build the necessary infrastructure for the application of distance education. Elnara Omarova, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Marketing and Communications Department of the University, said that in order to ensure the sustainability of education during the pandemic, all classes at UNEC were organized remotely.
According to him, mobile internet is enough to connect to distance education: "The high-level infrastructure created at the UNEC EXTERN Center in accordance with European standards, as well as the professionalism of the teaching staff create conditions for distance education."
E. Omarova says that although the university has the opportunity to provide distance education, it mainly used it during the pandemic: “Distance trainings were conducted at the Azerbaijan State Economic University. Even certificates were issued for that. Chinese language is taught remotely at our university. However, the implementation of distance education at UNEC is delayed due to the lack of distance education in the country.
