Biden has been officially confirmed as a candidate for the US presidency

The Democratic Party of the United States has approved the candidacy of former Vice President Joe Biden.
The decision was made at the party's congress, Gadin.Net reports quoting the Telegraph.
Biden, who has been a senator from Delaware for more than 35 years and served as vice president in the Obama administration, is considered a strong-willed and experienced Democrat. If Biden wins the election, he will be 78 years old. He will go down in history as the oldest president of the United States.
Biden was a senator from Delaware from 1973-2009.

Biden also called for NATO to expand eastward. He even called on Georgia and Ukraine to join the North Atlantic Alliance. He supported the launch of US military operations in Afghanistan in 2001 and in Iraq in 2003.

Biden has been married twice. His first wife and daughter died in a car accident in 1972.

In 2015, his eldest son, Bo, died of brain cancer at the age of 46.
