North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has allegedly ordered the confiscation of all domestic dogs in the country.
According to Gadin.Net, the dog owners are worried that the management will use this to solve the food shortage in the country.
The South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo reported that Kim accepted domestic dogs as a symbol of bourgeois ideology and capitalism.
According to the report, the relevant authorities have identified the dog houses, the owners were forced to give the animals, or the animals were forcibly confiscated.
Some of the animals were sent to state-owned zoos, while others were sold to dog restaurants. Citizens are concerned that dogs will be used to prevent food shortages in the country.
According to a recent UN report, 60 percent of North Korea's 25.5 million people are starving because of Pyongyang's nuclear program.
