IMPORTANT STATEMENT from the Minister of Education regarding the academic year

A video conference of the Ministry of Education and the Parliamentary Committee on Science and Education was held on August 17.
This was reported by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Parliament.
The conference discussed issues related to the resumption of educational institutions in the next academic year in the context of the global pandemic COVID-19.
It was noted that the results of scientific research reflecting the proposals and recommendations of the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the organization of the activities of educational institutions in the new academic year were presented to the public.
Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev spoke at the online conference.
He thanked the leadership of the Milli Majlis and MPs for the event and the sensitive approach to the issue, which was dedicated to the discussion of ways to overcome the problems associated with the coronavirus pandemic in education.

The Minister said that the current situation is quite complicated.

"The main issue that the country's leadership is paying attention to at this time is, first of all, the protection of human health," he added.

Emin Amrullayev informed about the results of the investigation into the rate of infection with COVID-19 if the ministry continues education normally.

He stressed the importance of taking into account the level of mobility of people if education continues as usual, noting that this could create certain risks.

The Minister voiced the proposals made by the Institute of Education to restore the activities of educational institutions for the next academic year.

He noted that research was conducted on all forms of continuing education in the "green", "yellow", "orange" and "red" zones and recommendations were made.

It was noted that the recommendations of the Institute of Education provide for the organization of distance learning, the application of mixed (online and in the classroom) models. Measures such as reducing the total number of school days, the number of school hours, and classrooms are planned to minimize the risk of infection.

It was noted that it is advisable for students to spend more time outdoors by extending the break.

Committee Chairman Bakhtiyar Aliyev also said that the mixed education model (online and in the classroom) is more appropriate at the moment. He noted that the broadcasting of classes on most subjects on the country's two TV channels, which began on March 11, 2020, is very useful for pupils and students, and it is necessary to continue this.

Bakhtiyar Aliyev expressed his views on general education, preschool education, higher and secondary special education, vocational education, continuation of the school preparation process.

It was noted that at some levels of general, higher and secondary special education, distance education can be continued in accordance with existing programs.

At the online conference, MPs Isa Habibbayli, Anar Isgandarov, Musa Gasimli, Etibar Aliyev, Agiya Nakhchivanli, Mushfig Mammadov, Shahin Seyidzade, Kamila Aliyeva, Jeyhun Mammadov, Parvin Karimzade, Tamam Jafarova, Fatma Yildirim, Ulviya Agayeva expressed their views on the proposals made by the Institute of Education.

At the end of the online event, Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev and chairman of the committee Bakhtiyar Aliyev clarified some points of interest to MPs.
