Ambassador Eldar Hasanov, detained by the State Security Service (SSS), was taken to court.
Gadin.Net reports that, according to APA, the Sabail District Court is considering the presentation of the investigation body on the choice of a measure of restraint against Hasanov.
It should be noted that, according to the State Security Committee, the head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the criminal case of abuse of power by some officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The chairman of the commission, Farhad Molla-zade, the head of the Consular Department, Faig Bagirov, and others were prosecuted for abuse of office, embezzlement, and bribery, and were remanded in custody on the basis of court decisions.
During the ongoing criminal investigation, new information was obtained on the misappropriation of state budget funds allocated for the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and on the basis of the collected materials, an inspection on a complex financial and economic activity was appointed.
During the financial audits, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina Hasanov Eldar Humbat oglu established reasonable suspicions that a large amount of budget funds was not used for its intended purpose and other violations of the law.
Eldar Hasanov was detained as a suspect during the investigation.
