WHO STATEMENT on foodborne transmission of the virus

Michael Ryan, director of the WHO's emergency program, said there was no evidence that the coronavirus was transmitted through food.
He said this at a briefing in Geneva, Qadin.Net reports citing publika.az.
"There is no evidence that the food chain was involved in the transmission of the virus," Ryan said.
At the same time, Maria Van Kerkhoven, head of the technical team of the WHO Association of Emergency Diseases, said that the infection could remain in the packages of chicken wings imported from Brazil to China.
"As far as we know, China has tested the packages. Several hundred samples were tested, of which only 10 showed positive results. In fact, the virus may remain on the surface for some time. However, if the virus is in the food, it can be destroyed during cooking, like other viruses, "said a WHO spokesman
