SARS-CoV-2 damages not only the respiratory tract, but also the brain and central nervous system.
The statement came from Leyla Namazova-Baranova, a doctor at the Russian National Academy of Sciences, speaking at a forum entitled "The health of the country is the foundation of Russia's well-being."
According to him, such changes occur in the brains of people with COVID-19.
Noting that the loss of ability to smell and taste confirms this situation, Namazova said that these symptoms indicate damage to the central nervous system.
He noted in previous statements that health professionals and scientists have observed many paralysis and neurological diseases caused by the coronavirus.
