The US Congress has secretly frozen the government's arms sales to Turkey.
This was reported by the country's Defense News, Qadin.Net reports citing publika.az.
According to sources in the Congress, the Senate and House Foreign Affairs Committees of the supreme legislative body have frozen attempts to freeze arms sales to Turkey for two years. The decision was made by the chairmen of the committees and some influential members. The committee members cited Turkey's purchase of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia as the reason for the move. In addition, members who criticized President Donald Trump's failure to impose CAATSA sanctions on Ankara were alleged to have chosen this path.
Under U.S. law, the Senate and House Foreign Affairs Committees may express their views on arms sales to another country and, in some cases, freeze sales
