American businessman, honorary chairman of the media corporation ViacomCBS Sumner Redstone has died at the age of 97.
The death of one of the world's oldest billionaires has been announced by National Amusements, a company founded by his family, and his relatives.
National Amusements was founded in 1936 by the billionaire's father, Michael Redstone. Later, his son Sumner took over the chairmanship. In a 2012 interview with CNBC, he called the acquisition of Viacom a major business achievement.
Redstone was chairman of ViacomCBS from 1987 to 2016 and general director of the company from 1996 to 2005. In November 2019, his fortune was estimated at $ 3.9 billion.
