According to the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated July 31, 2020, the construction of a highway in the Ismayilli region has begun.
According to Qadin.Net Baku TV, during the work on the part of the road from Kurduvan village, large pieces of stone impeded the movement of heavy machinery.
The resulting building attracted everyone's interest. Brick buildings and masonry form the basis of the historical monument.
Alikram Ismayilov, a resident of the village, informed the head of the Executive Power of the region and the representatives of the State Service for Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Ismayilli region. Members of the relevant organization inspected the area and historical finds.
During the initial inspection of the area, a large number of ancient pottery and ornaments were found. It is said that one of the discovered examples of material culture has Arabic inscriptions on it.
In addition, jugs, water bowls, plates and several lamps, as well as a large number of ornaments from the I-III centuries AD were found. At the same time, various currencies of the Elkhanid period were found in the area.
The head of the district executive power inspected the area and got acquainted with the historical findings.
There are reportedly seven mosques in the Basqal administrative district, including Kurduvan. According to locals, one of them was previously located in this area.
Construction work has already been stopped at the site of the rare finds, and the roads leading there have been closed with a special tape. Police officers guarded the area.
