Concerned about Turkey's military and economic activity at sea, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has scheduled a meeting at his headquarters, Qadin.Net reports quoting publika.az.
Although the reasons are known, the agenda of the meeting is not disclosed.
The Greek Armed Forces are concerned about Turkey's plans to hold military exercises in the area between the islands of Rhodes and Castelorizo. All vacations in the army have been canceled and are ready for combat.
Relations between the two countries have been strained by the signing of an agreement between Greece and Egypt on the delimitation of offshore zones and the immediate resumption of previously suspended exploration and drilling in Turkey's Mediterranean hydrocarbon fields. Turkey has also announced plans to hold military exercises in the Eastern Mediterranean. Ankara considers the agreement between Greece and Egypt on the delimitation of maritime zones illegal. Turkey says Greece has no rights to the sea areas specified in the agreement with Egypt.
