An explosion occurred in one of the gas pipelines belonging to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Hajigabul region.
Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of SOCAR's Events and Public Relations Department, told Trend, Gadin.Net reports.
He said the blast took place in a remote area. Therefore, there is no danger to the population and no victims:
"This is one of our main gas pipelines. It is believed to be a gas pipeline connected to the Kalmaz underground storage."
The SOCAR official said that the pipeline itself is already closed and gas no longer enters it:
"Once the remaining gas in the pipe is exhausted, the fire will be stopped accordingly. The cause of the explosion is still unknown. It is believed that it is the corrosion that caused the gas leak and the explosion."
