It has been decided to remove some restrictions in the strict quarantine regime applied for the coronavirus pandemic in Azerbaijan from August 5. However, officials and experts say that after the decision to mitigate, the responsibility of citizens increases and the rules must be followed more strictly to prevent the recurrence of the infection.
Professor Akif Gurbanov, a member of the Scientific Committee of MEDICINE, said in an interview with Real TV that the tightening of the quarantine regime in Azerbaijan has reduced the number of infections from 600 to 200:
"Hospitals are also being vacated. If the quarantine regime had not been tightened, we would not have been able to find a place to place patients. Therefore, tightening the quarantine regime was the right step. From today, the permit system was abolished, and people were allowed to go to the beaches. People also have to decide which beach to go to according to the density. People have to be very careful when going to the beach. If you get infected one day when you go to the beach and rest for 3-5 hours, you will be quarantined and treated for two weeks after your arrival. Do you need this? Once the quarantine regime is relaxed, stricter rules will have to be followed. Citizens should use or not use public transport as little as possible.
There are many requests to lift the ban on travel to the regions. We have districts where there is no infection, but there are many in Baku. If a person from Baku goes to that region and infects people there, then a new source of infection will appear for us. I think that this will not always be the case, the number of infections will be discussed and considered. After the strict quarantine regime in April-May, the mitigation was very short and the number of infections increased. Today, we are going to soften as much as possible so that we do not experience that situation again. Today, if the inter-district ban is lifted, the number of infections will reach 600 again, and there will be another hardening. There will be no such struggle. Therefore, people should think that all this work is done for their health, and there is nothing behind this work that they do not know. Currently, quarantine remains in all countries. No country has opened its borders. The death toll in Sweden, which has a population close to that of our country and has good health and no quarantine, is about 10 times higher than in Azerbaijan.
