The starting point for a new type of coronavirus pandemic may not be the Chinese city of Wuhan.
The statement came from the World Health Organization.
Michael Ryan, Executive Director of the WHO Emergency Program, shared the preliminary results of a large-scale study on the discovery of the zoonotic core of the coronavirus pandemic in China. He said Uhanda had a surveillance system against infections such as SARS and that it had warned of a new epidemic, but that did not mean the city was a gateway between new types of coronavirus.
Ryan stressed the need for more work to find the link between the infections and to determine exactly where the interspecific link is. It will be possible to conduct more systematic research on animals once we determine where this border is violated. ”
WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus said epidemiological work would be carried out in Uhanda to determine whether the first infections were a potential source of infection.
The investigation team was sent to Wuhan in June. The team's investigation is in preparation for an international mission to the region.
