Scientists have discovered cancer in a dinosaur that lived 75 million years ago

A dinosaur that lived in Canada 75 million years ago was found to suffer from osteosarcoma (bone cancer).
The study, conducted by experts from the Royal Museum of Ontario, was published in The Lancet.

Researchers have found that a dinosaur found in the Canadian province of Alberta 30 years ago lost the shape of a calf bone. However, at that time, scientists did not pay attention to this point.

However, scientists have recently begun to study the causes of bone deformities again.

The researchers invited an osteopath and an oncologist to conduct the study.

Bone samples were examined under a microscope, computed tomography and bone biopsy were performed.

As a result, the dinosaur was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer).

Given the size of the tumor, it is believed that it seriously impeded the movement of the dinosaur. In addition, the metastasis hit other organs and resulted in the extinction of the dinosaur.
