Hepatologist Chavdar Pavlov, head of the research department of the Moscow State Medical University named after Sechenov, described the symptoms of hepatitis B.
According to him, there are no specific symptoms in the early stages, they appear in the "advanced stages" - abdominal obesity and swelling in the legs. However, a blood test can help determine if you have the hepatitis B virus.
The doctor also warned about the risk factors that can cause hepatitis B. At the same time, the combination of alcohol with viruses and obesity leads to the accelerated development and complications of the liver damage stage.
A significant proportion of people infected with the hepatitis B virus become aware of their illness after the infection has become chronic or decades later.
People who are unaware that they are infected can pass it on to others without knowing it.
