In the last days of April, cases of the virus have been registered on the streets inhabited by Roma in Yevlakh. In the first days, the number of infected even in families reached 10-15 people. The disregard for the rules by the residents of that street aggravated the situation there in May. Since mid-June, the situation in the Gypsy neighborhood has stabilized as a result of preventive measures.
According to the Yevlakh Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, the area where Gypsies live is often disinfected, and access to these streets is closed. Even mobile ATMs, bakeries and other grocery stores and pharmacies were opened to prevent them from going to the city and spreading the disease. These measures have yielded results, and the virus is no longer registered in the Gypsy neighborhood. Police posts were also removed from the area.
It should be noted that the overall infection rate in the region has also decreased. In short, following the rules has not been in vain.
In May, 53 people were infected with the coronavirus in one day in the same neighborhood.
