Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has submitted a decision to the Cabinet of Ministers to give official status to the holidays of Eid al-Adha and Ramadan.
This was stated on the official website of the Ukrainian government.
The statement said that the proposal was made as a sign of respect for the history, culture and traditions of the multinational and multi-religious Ukrainian society in order to ensure the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, equal rights and opportunities for all believers.
The President of Ukraine also congratulated the Muslims living in the country on Eid al-Adha on Twitter:
"This holiday fills the hearts of believers with compassion and love for their loved ones, gives hope and justice.
We appreciate the contribution of the Muslim community in Ukraine to the spiritual richness and diversity of the people of the country and to ensuring peace and harmony between religions in the country.
He wished Muslims good health, peace and happiness.
