Argentina has begun testing serum against COVID-19 infection in humans.
The statement came from TN TV channel, citing Gadin.Net report.
"Testing of hyperimmune serum, exclusively produced in Argentina, has begun. The treatment of 242 patients with moderate and severe conditions will be tested," the channel said.
The tests are being conducted in four medical facilities, but it is planned to distribute them to more than 10 hospitals.
Serum is a type of passive immunization, which consists in the application of antibodies to patients. These antibodies can prevent or block the spread of the virus. It is reminiscent of a drug used in the treatment of snake or scorpion stings, as well as for convulsions and rabies.
In Argentina, 162,526 cases of coronavirus were confirmed, 2,956 people died and 72,575 patients were cured.
