A man accused of killing an endangered gorilla has been arrested in Uganda.
According to Qadin.Net, sondakika.com reports that Felix Byamukama, the hunter who killed a 25-year-old monkey named Rafiki, pleaded guilty 11 years later.
Byamukama said he committed the murder in self-defense because the gorilla attacked him.
He was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Three more people suspected of killing the gorilla are wanted.
In Uganda, Rwanda and Congo, about a thousand gorillas are endangered. Rafiki was an ape accustomed to humans and led other gorillas. After his death, the group was expected to break up and move away from the people.
