According to scientists in the UK and the US, tall people are at higher risk for coronavirus.
Scientists have analyzed the statistics of people infected with the virus, taking into account the height of people. Those over 182.8 centimeters were found to be predominant among the infected.
Their theory is based on new information that is not yet recognized by the WHO - the virus can be transmitted by air when dangerous particles are hung on dust particles. In this case, it is enough to breathe to become infected.
In the UK, tall men and women are more likely to be infected with COVID-19 than those under 182.8 cm in height. In the United States, the effects of the neck are also noted, but mostly tall women are infected - the risk of infection for them is nine times higher than women of short stature.
According to Evan Contopantelis, a professor at the University of Manchester, the study proves the importance of wearing a mask on the streets. Some scholars have expressed skepticism about this theory:
"One of the biggest mistakes people make in epidemiological research is testing multiple hypotheses," Paul Hunter, a professor at the University of East Anglia, told the Daily Mail. He called on his colleagues to carefully interpret the information.
