Foreign Minister: "Armenia is resorting to sabotage"

"The aggression of the Republic of Armenia against Azerbaijan continues. As a result of the aggression, about 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory has been occupied by Armenia. More than one million Azerbaijanis have been forced to leave their historical lands and become refugees or internally displaced persons.

Four UN Security Council resolutions call for the immediate, unconditional and complete withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. However, Armenia continues to ignore these resolutions and documents of international organizations demanding an end to the occupation and aggression.

According to Gadin.Net, this was stated by Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during a webinar on "Using the effects of the pandemic on regional cooperation in Asia."

He said that at a time when the whole world is mobilized to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Armenia is resorting to provocation and sabotage to increase tensions.

The Minister reminded that on July 12, the Armenian armed forces violated the ceasefire and fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the Tovuz region along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

"As a result of these attacks, 12 servicemen and one civilian, including a major general of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, were killed.

Such military ignorance on the part of Armenia is aimed at disrupting the peace talks and continuing the occupation and aggression against Azerbaijan. "Thus, the Armenian leadership aims to divert attention from the country's internal problems by aggravating the situation as a result of incompetent activities and aggravating socio-economic problems due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Armenia," Bayramov said.

Bayramov stressed that the international reaction to the provocation was too much. Leading international organizations such as the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation have issued statements:

"The Non-Aligned Movement Coordination Bureau, with the support of its 120 member states, adopted a communiqué strongly condemning the attack by the Armenian armed forces. We would like to express our deep gratitude to brotherly Turkey for its resolute solidarity in this time of need. "
