City lights had a negative effect on birds

In residential areas, night lights disrupt the sleep patterns of urban birds and affect their normal behavior.
Scientists from the University of Melbourne, who studied the neurological reactions of birds to light pollution for the first time in the world, warned about this, reports Gadin.Net.
According to them, artificial light affects the duration of sleep in pigeons and monkeys.
Scientists have installed a transmitter to test the brain activity of birds. It has been found that city birds usually sleep less than they need to. Thus, during the experiment, it was found that the pigeons slept only six hours instead of the standard ten hours.
Experts say that insomnia in birds can lead to daytime sleepiness, which affects the ability to feed, cope with predators and search for mates.

It is known that light pollution can adversely affect the health of humans, insects and plants. This phenomenon, called light fog, interferes with astronomical observations and distorts the biorhythms of living things.
