Shortness of breath, loss of smell and taste are some of the specific symptoms that distinguish the coronavirus from the flu.
According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by former Russian Chief Medical Officer Gennady Onishchenko.
In addition, people infected with COVID-19 are more likely to have lung problems, such as intoxication and coughing.
According to Onishchenko, the flu, as well as the coronavirus, can impair the ability to smell. However, only those infected with the coronavirus do not feel the smell at all.
He also noted that adults suffer from the disease more severely than children: "In the flu, the opposite is true: children are just like adults."
The expert added that in influenza and acute respiratory diseases, the process develops more intensively, the incubation period lasts about seven days.
In the case of coronavirus infection, this period is twice as long: the critical periods for infection are days 12, 13 and 14.
