Patients infected with the coronavirus have a significantly increased risk of hospitalization and death if they suffer from obesity.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson made this announcement based on the results of the Ministry of Health of the United Kingdom, Qadin.Net reports quoting publika.az.
"Weight loss is one of the ways to protect against the dangers of COVID-19, but also has a significant positive impact on overall health," Johnson said. The Prime Minister admitted that he himself has become active in sports and eats less to lose weight.
Public Health England reports that coronavirus patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 30-35 have a 40 percent higher risk of death than underweight patients.
Doctors are urging people with a BMI above 25 to try to lose weight.
