Vladimir Putin discussed the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia with permanent members of the Russian Security Council.

TASS reports quoting Russian President's Spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"They discussed Russia's relations with the CIS countries, including Azerbaijan and Armenia, against the background of the ongoing escalation on the borders of these republics," he said.

The Russian leader said at the meeting:

"For us, the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border is a very sensitive issue."

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Speakers of both houses of parliament Valentina Matviyenko and Viacheslav Volodin, Kremlin Chief of Staff Anton Vaino, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov, Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, Special Representative of the President for Environment, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
