CRITICAL ATTACK on former USSR citizens from Russia

A law has come into force that makes it easier to obtain Russian citizenship.

Citizens of the former USSR and those living in the former Soviet Union, who no longer have citizenship, will be able to easily obtain a Russian passport.

To do this, they do not have to live in Russia for 3 years and provide a legal source of income. Foreigners seeking Russian citizenship will not have to renounce their previous citizenship.

In addition, foreigners whose parents live in Russia and are Russian citizens or who are married to a Russian citizen and have children will also be able to benefit from the law.

Citizens of Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Moldova will need a residence permit to apply for Russian citizenship.

Graduates of Russian universities will be able to apply for citizenship after working in Russia for 1 year, instead of 3 years.

The law was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in April.
