A group of researchers from Russia and the United Arab Emirates is proposing a way to create rain by heating the clouds.
According to Qadin.Net, it is proposed to use special devices to increase the volume of clouds in arid regions, thereby increasing the amount of precipitation.
These devices, called meteotrons, must create a stream of hot air that will heat the clouds and operate at a height of 3-4 kilometers.
"According to our calculations, the flow temperature should be 10-20 degrees higher than the ambient air. At the same time, in order for the current to reach the cloud, it must have a power of 25-100 m / s. This powerful air flow can be achieved with turbo-jet devices similar to aircraft engines, "said Robert Zakinian, a Russian specialist and professor at the North Caucasus Federal University.
Tests of the new devices have already been carried out in Russia.
