"In Azerbaijan, the coronavirus is mainly transmitted to women, and they are also infected during mourning ceremonies."
The statement came from Azerbaijani President's Aide for Economic Affairs Shahmar Movsumov at a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers today.
Movsumov said that in general, no social distance is expected in the mourning ceremonies for the dead in the country:
"There are statistics in this regard. The majority of those infected are women. They are more likely to be infected during mourning ceremonies. There are mourning ceremonies in Azerbaijan with a large number of people, but this is illegal.
It is not right to hold large mourning ceremonies for people who died during the pandemic. Most men in the world are infected with the coronavirus, but in Azerbaijan, mostly women are infected, and this is mainly due to mourning ceremonies.
