Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited the Hagia Sophia and got acquainted with the work done here for the first worship after its conversion into a mosque.
According to Qadin.Net, the Turkish leader shared the news on Twitter. The first worship in the temple in 86 years is scheduled for Friday, July 24.
Staying in Hagia Sophia for about an hour, Erdogan was accompanied by Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu and Religious Affairs Minister Ali Yerbas. Ersoy and Yerlikaya informed the President about the preparations for the first Friday prayers.
