The liberation of Gubadli region and Gubadli city gave us a great strategic advantage. Because the next direction after Gubadli was Lachin region. Every day, the combat operations plans were approved by me, and every day the work was summarized and analyzed - to what extent the work done during the day was in line with our plans and what achievements we had achieved. The statement came from President of Azerbaijan, Muzaffar Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev during his visit to the liberated city of Gubadli. Continuing his speech, the head of state said: “The road from Gubadli to the southern part of Lachin region was always under fire.
Because the road to Lachin passes right next to the state border of Armenia, the distance there is maybe 10-20 meters, and Armenia was constantly firing from that side. Therefore, our military units were located in the strategic heights of Lachin region, crossing the mountains in various other ways and paths. Thus, Gulabird village, Safiyan village, Turkler village in the southern part of Lachin region were liberated, and at the same time, after the capture of strategic heights, it allowed us to fire on the Lachin corridor. The President noted that the enemy was waiting for us from this side and thought that after taking the southern part of Lachin region, we would go to Shusha from this side. "We also knew that the enemy was waiting for us there.
We went to Shusha by another road, we passed a road they did not expect. To this day, they cannot believe how our heroic soldiers and officers approached Shusha through those mountains, valleys and forests and liberated Shusha from occupation. They were waiting for us from here, at the same time, in the direction of Girmizibazar settlement of Khojavend region. We went to Shusha by another way. Approaching Shusha, we liberated several villages, including Sighnag, Chanakhchi and Dashalti. The Gubadli operation was of great importance. Because after Gubadli, we liberated the city of Shusha from occupation. On October 25, Gubadli was liberated, and on November 8, Shusha was liberated. Thus, the enemy was forced to surrender, "said President Ilham Aliyev.
