It consists of the words hetero and chromia. Hetero is different, and chromia means color.
This word, which means different colors, is often used for eyes of different colors. Rarely, there may be color differences in hair or skin.
Melanin gives the color to the eyes. Observe the amount of melanin in the iris; makes it blue, green or brown. The most melanin is found in brown eyes, the least melanin is in the iris of blue eyes. This situation does not prevent the view of the person and is not a disease. In addition, this situation can be seen not only in humans, but also in animals.
- Full Heterochromia: In this type of heterochromia, the two eyes can be completely different colors. Usually one eye is blue while the other is eye; it can be brown, green or black.
- Regional Heterochromia: In partial heterochromia, some of the iris is in a different color and the iris may appear to be divided in the middle. On the other hand, in addition to the appearance of a complete cleavage, it can also appear as if there is a "stain" of different colors in the eye. Regional heterochromia is extremely rare in humans, found in about 1 percent of the population.
- Central Heterochromia: In central heterochromia, the center of the iris is in a different color than the rest of the eye. Generally, blue eyes can be observed as golden yellow in the middle.
